Homegrown wingman Noah Ash realised a dream last Saturday when he made his league debut for Subiaco.

The 21-year-old was one of eight players to make their debut for the club in the Lions’ round one loss to South Fremantle.

Ash’s first game, where he gathered 16 disposals and kicked a goal, marked the next step in his football journey which started from Subiaco’s development squad seven years ago.

He said the pace of the game sped up as you reached higher levels of football.

“It was pretty full on,” Ash said about his debut.

“It’s a big step up from the scratch matches but it’s a team I’ve wanted to push into for the last two or three years.

“It was unreal to get my first game out of the way.”

The Kingsway product has been around team success, but has narrowly missed out on different occasions.

When Subiaco swept the premierships in 2018, Ash featured during the year at Colts level, but did not play in the Grand Final.

It continued last season where he was a key part of the reserves side, but fell short in the decider by six points.

Ash said the experience made him hungry to achieve.

“It drives me a lot more to have that success,” he said.

“That drove me to have a big off-season and push forward to my league debut.

“Hopefully that team success comes this year or in the following years.”

When asked about what the debut meant to him, Ash said it was a privilege to put on the maroon and gold.

“Playing for this club is second to none,” he said.

“You can see how professional it is and the success we’ve had as a club, it’s good to be a part of.

“It means so much to me and my family, and it’s been a great experience.”

It was through the talent pathway Ash found his position, saying his role on the wing fits his size and is one he loves playing.

He credited teammates Wil Hickmott and Chad Harris with the way he wants to play on the wing, highlighting their running capacity as their strength and the key to his own success.
