RESERVES

Subiaco’s reserves side were the shining lights of the football club last weekend, taking home a 93-point victory against Claremont.

The Lions took the lead after 36 seconds of football and never looked back, kicking 17.12 (114) while keeping the Tigers to 3.3 (21).

Claremont had periods where they looked to put Subiaco under pressure, but the side was up to the challenge and able to respond.

Subiaco dominated the inside 50s, having 35 more entries than their opposition which is a credit to the Lions’ work in the middle of the ground.

It was a strong performance for the reserves, who shook off their defeat last week off the back of some key performances.

Jordan Faraone and Jack Borchet led the scoring kicking three goals each, while in total there were 12 different goal-kickers for the Lions.

Midfielder Jaimon Alone kept Claremont under pressure all day with 18 disposals and eight tackles, while Lachlan Vanirsen was everywhere in the midfield with a game-high 24 disposals.

COLTS

The Lions’ Colts side had their first loss of the season at the hands of Claremont, going down by 15 points on Saturday.

Rory Murison made his Colts debut after playing in the reserves side last week, while Ky South also made his debut in the match.

The two sides were competitive all day, but a four-goal second term from the Tigers gave them the lead for the majority of the contest.

However the Lions refused to give in, chipping away at Claremont’s 19-point lead until they took back the lead in the final term thanks to a long-range goal from forward Cas Dunlop.

Unfortunately for the Lions, it wasn’t to be as Claremont responded with three goals in the final 10 minutes, taking the win 11.10 (76) to 9.7 (61).

Midfielder Jack Gouge did all he could to get the Lions over the line with a game-high 28 disposals, while captain Jacob Evitt was handy with 22 touches.

Meanwhile, Dylan O’Dea and Tyrell Dewar looked solid in their roles down back.
