RESERVES

The Lions were made to work for it, but were good enough to grind out an eight-point win over Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday June 25.

It was tight all game, with the two sides trading goals at various stages of the match.

With the margin at seven points at half time, Subiaco put in the work and kicked four goals to stretch the lead to 20.

Although the Swans kicked an early goal in the last term, ruckman Oskar Matthews took a big mark up forward and put through a goal shortly after to put the result out of Swan Districts’ reach.

Patrick Mullane was solid in defence and was one of the Lions’ best, while Trey Kennedy provided drive all match.

Meanwhile, Chayse Grabe-Paparone was lively up forward with three goals from 14 possessions.

COLTS

Subiaco were 55-point winners in the Colts, where they proved too strong for Swan Districts.

After an arm-wrestle in the first quarter, the Lions got the game on their terms in the second term and never looked back. 

Subiaco were able to kick multiple goals on several occasions to capitalise on their momentum in the game.

It was a solid team effort from the group, who took home the four points in the 15.8 (98) to 6.7 (43) contest.

Midfielder Rory Murison found plenty of the ball, with a game-high 31 disposals and nine tackles, while Ryan Newick impressed with 23 touches.

Ky Franceschini had 28 disposals and used the ball well with eight inside 50s, while Ethan Barbieri put in another solid performance.
