Thursday, June 30, 2022 - 11:15 AM

Subiaco FC is exceptionally proud of the club and all the supporters who joined the 2022 Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) #WALKFORHIM. It has been confirmed, that Subiaco FC not only topped the list of WAFL clubs fundraising for 2022 but raised the most funds across Australia for this year’s Men’s Health Week!

Through the immense support from our players, sponsors, supporters and staff, the Subiaco FC team raised a total of $17,519, an incredible feat.

Whilst the main purpose of the walk was around raising funds, the main component was raising awareness for the 49 Australian men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer every week.

The event finale, saw Subiaco hold an event which was a 500-meter walk on Sunday morning which started at The Orange Box café. The crowd was addressed by Subiaco FC CEO, Peter Capes, PCFA Community Manager, Amy Botterill, & PCFA Board Member and Subiaco FC Legend, Neil Randall.  Seniors and Colts all participated in the walk at Leighton Beach.  The walk had a great turnout with over 100 people in attendance.

We would like to acknowledge the highest fundraisers on our team which included Peter Capes, Kristian Dicton, Kristi Annear, and Jesse McDonald who all raised over $1,000 throughout the week.  The Lions would also like to thank everyone who helped contribute to our team this week and who showed their support throughout the week for the men of Australia who are fighting this disease.

In addition to the work done with PCFA, the Lions were proud to work with Prost!, which is an exercise and social group for men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Prost! uses the Subiaco gym two days a week to help them stay engaged physically and socially. Our team was lucky enough to spend some time with the group. To continue to support the PCFA you can sign up online through their website for other events that they will be having throughout the year.  We encourage you to continue to get involved by spreading awareness to others in your community and by letting others know what the PCFA does and how it can help others who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer or have a substantial risk of developing it in the future.
