WAFL: Round 14 Match Preview vs Claremont
With their backs against the wall, Subiaco will be looking to defy all the odds when they foe toe-to-toe against Claremont at Leederville Oval on Saturday July 23.
Every game looms as important for the Lions if they are to feature in postseason action.
FORM
Subiaco haven't had the performances they would have liked since the bye, losing to East Fremantle at home before falling to Peel last weekend.
The Lions have had moments where they have looked back to their best, but they have been too inconsistent for what is such an even competition.
However, this week is an opportunity for Subiaco to get on the right track against an inconsistent Tigers outfit.
Claremont in recent times lost to East Perth and South Fremantle, but defeated then-top of the ladder West Perth in emphatic fashion.
It shows they can not be underestimated heading into Saturday's game.
LAST TIME THEY MET
In round two, Subiaco lost by 15 points to the Tigers at Revo Fitness Stadium.
With both sides balancing COVID outs and injuries, Claremont got off to a fast start and the Lions were playing catch up for the rest of the contest.
Jake Stergiou announced himself at the league level, showing off his speed in a half back role with 17 disposals.
ONE TO WATCH
In a side that is looking for consistency, midfielder Stef Giro has been just that.
He’s averaging 27.4 disposals for the season, ranking ninth for most touches in the competition.
His first use is important if the side is going to get up this weekend.
