RESERVES

Subiaco fought, but fell two kicks short of victory against East Perth, as 12 points separated the two sides at Leederville Oval.

The Lions were put on the back foot early, as they were out scored four goals to one in the first term.

However, the resilient Subiaco outfit came back in the second term, keeping the Royals to just one behind to reduce the margin to seven points at half time.

As the rain came down, scores became difficult, with the two sides trading goals at times.

The Lions had their chances to gain momentum, but weren’t able to cash in as East Perth took the 8.10 (58) to 6.10 (46) win.

Ben Golding had an influence in the midfield, with 28 disposals and a goal, as did Connor Patterson who had 22 touches and six tackles.

Meanwhile, 2021 premiership defender Jacob Atkinson returned from injury, and was solid in the wet conditions.

COLTS

The Lions were able to complete a 61-point turnaround, storming home by 41 points against East Perth.

It was an arm-wrestle for most of the day, where the Royals led by as much as 21 points early in the second term.

However, Kingsway product Tyler Senge popped up inside forward 50 and kicked a goal from nowhere to shift the momentum towards the Lions.

It started a four-goal run for Subiaco, and by the end of the third term, they were up by one point.

The Lions got off to the perfect start, with an impressive checkside finish from Malakai Champion started a chain of six unanswered goals, as the side won the contest 14.14 (98) to 8.9 (57).

Tyrell Dewar was one of the Lions’ best of the day, kicking three goals from his 10 disposals, while Lachlan MacRae impressed with 12 touches and four marks.

The win means the side moves to third on the ladder, as they look to go deep in season 2022.
