RESERVES

For the reserves, it’s do or die from here on in, following their narrow 18-point loss to West Perth over the weekend.

After a less than ideal start from the Lions, they worked their way back into the game, reducing the 21-point margin to be all square at three quarter time.

However, Subiaco were put on the back foot by the minor premiers in the last, with the Falcons able to rebound when inside defensive 50.

West Perth kicked four goals to the Lions’ one in the last term, taking the 10.4 (64) to 6.10 (46) win.

Jaxon McGowan continued his impressive season down back, with 17 disposals and eight marks, while Lachlan Vanirsen had 20 touches and laid six tackles.

Jake Stergiou also had an impact, with 18 disposals and four inside 50s.

The reserves take on Swan Districts in the Elimination Final at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Sunday September 11.

COLTS

The Lions pulled off a stunning victory over the top-of-the-ladder Falcons to seal the double chance in the finals.

With a win for Subiaco needed, Ryan Newick got the team off to the perfect start, snapping through the first goal of the day.

The two sides traded goals, before the Falcons ran away with it in the middle of the game.

They led by as much as 19 points towards the end of the third term, and the Lions needed to dig deep to get themselves back in it.

Campbell Henderson held his nerve on a tight angle in front of goal to give Subiaco the momentum, and the side never looked back.

They kicked four in a row to storm home to take the 8.3 (51) to 6.12 (48) victory.

Newick finished with two majors and was one of the Lions’ best on the day.

Meanwhile Ky Franceschini was important in the midfield, with 14 touches and six tackles to go with four inside 50s.

The win means they take on Peel Thunder in the Qualifying Final at New Choice Homes Park on Saturday September 10.
