Colts: Preliminary Final Match Preview vs Peel Thunder

Subiaco will look to continue their fight in season 2022, when they take on Peel Thunder for a spot in the Colts Grand Final.

It’s set to be a huge clash when the two sides go head-to-head at New Choice Homes Park on Sunday September 25.

FORM

The Lions have looked strong in recent times, despite a narrow loss in the Qualifying Final.

Subiaco had two strong wins to finish the home and away season, and last week bounced back to take a comprehensive 118-point win over South Fremantle to storm into the Preliminary Final.

It’s a side that looks determined to achieve success, and will be looking to even an imbalanced ledger as of late.

Peel Thunder on the other hand have also had a strong season, where they finished second on the ladder.

They won the Qualifying Final, before falling to West Perth in the Semi to book a match with the Lions, with the winner heading to the big dance.

LAST TIME THEY MET

Subiaco fell just four points short of victory in the Qualifying Final, a result which will be fresh in each of the players’ minds.

Peel Thunder got out to a lead, before the Lions played catch up in the last and threatened to steal victory from the jaws of defeat.

However, time was the enemy in the end, with the Thunder holding out for a four-point victory.

Ky Franceschini was the best of the Lions on the day, with 19 disposals and four tackles.

This week the two sides will do it all again at the same venue, with the Lions looking for their first win against Peel in the Colts since 2020.

ONE TO WATCH

With the team looking to dig deep, Tyrell Dewar will have an important role to play.

He has the ability to provide a spark, and can hit the scoreboard in quick succession to put teams on the back foot.

Having started the season down back, but shining up forward, his versatility makes him a tough player to match up on, and will be a handful for the Thunder’s backline.
