Reserves: Preliminary Final Match Preview vs Claremont

Friday, September 23, 2022 - 9:35 AM by Matt Paddick

Subiaco will be looking to continue their charge in 2022, in the Preliminary Final against Claremont at New Choice Homes Park on Sunday September 25.

Their run from fourth on the ladder during the finals campaign has them one win away from a Grand Final berth.

FORM

The Lions have winning momentum on their side, having convincing wins so far during the Finals series.

They were able to back up a 73-point win over Swan Districts in the Elimination Final with a win last week over South Fremantle to march on in season 2022.

It’s been a settled line up with plenty of League experience, and will be looking to make their mark against the Tigers.

Claremont on the other hand have had a strong finish to the regular season, and were able to grind out a victory over South Fremantle in the Qualifying Final.

However, they lost their Semi Final match up with West Perth, setting up the clash with Subiaco.

LAST TIME THEY MET

In conditions of heavy rain back in round 14, Subiaco fell by 12 points at the hands of the Tigers.

The Lions’ inaccuracy cost them on the day, kicking 10 behinds, but a spirited last quarter effort had them back in the contest.

Lightning on the day caused the game to be cut short, with Claremont the better side early to get the win.

ONE TO WATCH

Leadership is important during a finals campaign, and no one has personified it more than Connor Patterson.

The big-bodied midfielder gives his all each and every week, and has been a standout during the finals.

He’s averaging 21 disposals and has hit the scoreboard in each finals game this year, with his pressure around the ground felt amongst his opponents.

He will be looking to influence once again, as the Lions eye a spot in the Grand Final.
