Farmer asking you to "get on board"
With the move to a one-club model, Subiaco Women’s Head Coach, Michael Farmer, is asking everyone to “get on board”.
Having coached the team for the past three seasons and a recent contract extension til 2024, Farmer understands what’s required to achieve success and has surrounded himself with a star-studded team.
This year’s coaching ranks will see Aimee Schmidt, Janelle Cuthbertson and Pia Faletti assisting the team, adding a wealth of AFLW experience to the mix. Aided by the one-club model will provide players with better support on and off the field to help them achieve their goals.
Speaking with Subiaco.com.au, Farmer said, “the access to Leederville Oval and all facilities has been a game changer. The off-field support through the alignment has created a more professional environment and the girls are thriving”.
Subiaco fell just short of the premiership in 2020, a memory that has stuck with the playing group ever since. Farmer believes the consistency of the squad aided by some recruits and rising stars could be the mix to see them achieve the ultimate goal in 2023.
With some Subiaco fan’s yet to watch a WAFLW game, Farmer said “The game is exploding. It’s exciting watching women’s footy grow and as the talent pool deepens and standards are lifted, I encourage everyone to get down”.
Pre-season officially starts on Monday and the team is raring to go. The season will start in March 2023 and the resounding message is “get on board”.
