Hayden ready to roll in 2023
After a recent departure from North Melbourne, Kyron Hayden joins Subiaco Football Club as a key recruit of the 2022/23 off-season.
Hayden, a product of the Noranda Junior Football Club, joins the team with five years of AFL experience and 17 AFL Games despite having to overcome multiple injuries along the way.
Speaking with subiacofc.com.au, Hayden said “it’s refreshing being back at home as I’ve been away since I was 18 and was unable to visit WA throughout COVID. To be back in WA, surrounded by family and with the opportunity to play footy with my brother (Elijah Hayden), is what I’ve been looking forward to”.
Throughout his AFL career, Hayden was no stranger to the recovery centre suffering multiple injuries and setbacks along his journey. Despite this, Hayden is looking to “enjoy footy” in whichever way best helps the team.
Talking with Head Coach, Beau Wardman, told subiacofc.com.au “I was fortunate to coach Kyron in the Colts in 2017, so the opportunity to work with him again will be great. He will be a contest bull for us around the ball and has played footy at North across half back. He is a young man of high character and his discipline and desire to improve those around him are characteristics which will benefit our group”.
Despite the changes from the 2022 squad, Hayden believes the talent coming through Colts and Reserves puts Subiaco in good standing to make a deep finals run in 2023. “I think 2022 may have been a bit of an aberration for the boys, but no doubt they would’ve learnt from it and I’m looking forward to contributing to our success,” Hayden said.
With the addition of Hayden, Zac Clarke, Taj Schofield and others, there are a lot of reasons to be excited as a Subiaco fan, after all, it’s where you belong.
