WAFL: Round Seven Match Preview vs Swan Districts
Following the competition-wide bye, Subiaco will be looking to click back into gear when they take on Swan Districts at Leederville Oval on Saturday May 27.
The Lions have been in good form, but the Swans will be desperate for a win following their start to 2023.
Subiaco can’t afford to start slowly, and will need to impact from the first siren.
FORM
The Lions are a game clear in fifth position, with a number of teams bottlenecked in the top five on the same amount of points.
Subiaco had three wins in a row from rounds three to five, before a loss to East Fremantle at the WACA Ground prior to the bye.
With a week off, the Lions will be ready for whatever the Swans have to throw at them.
Meanwhile, the Swans will be looking for a win, following their 1-5 record this season.
Despite their record, the side has been competitive with multiple losses of less than 10 points.
Another close game could be on the cards when the Lions host the Swans.
LAST TIME THEY MET
It was a big win for Swan Districts when the two sides met in round 10 of last year.
In an otherwise even contest, the Swans dominated the third quarter, eventually running away 51-point winners.
Despite the loss, Stefan Giro had plenty of the football with 37 disposals, and was the Lions’ best on the day.
ONE TO WATCH
Drew Rohde has been having an impact in the absence of Leigh Kitchin.
Rohde was trusted with the captaincy when Kitchin was ruled out due to injury, and has led by example.
His impact in the backline speaks for itself, but the way he leads the side against the Swans could be pivotal the securing the win.
