Colts: Lions continue on following Elimination Final win
Subiaco are through to the semi finals, after they knocked off West Perth by 37 points at Leederville Oval on Saturday September 2.
After a close first half, the Lions took control in the second, outscoring their opponents by 47 points.
Riley Wills was important to the win, with 26 disposals and nine inside 50s.
Meanwhile, Lance Collard’s five goals kept the Lions in the game in the first half.
The win means the Lions will travel to Fremantle Community Bank Oval to face the Sharks in the first Semi Final.
Collard kicked the first goal of the match, taking just 19 seconds to get on the board.
However, the response from West Perth had them up by 13 points at quarter time.
The 18-year-old continued to have an influence in the second term, kicking his third and fourth goals to even up the scores.
Josh Reid also hit the scoreboard, but a trio of goals to the Falcons had them up at half time.
Coach John Mansbridge’s words at half time must have buoyed the group, as they looked to dominate in the second half.
The Lions kicked six goals in the third term, including two from Malakai Champion, while Collard put through his fifth.
Subiaco’s lead could have been stretched further, but their inaccuracy in front of goal prevented the margin from extending further than the 37 point win.
