Subiaco’s reserves are in a similar position to the League side, in that they must continue to win in order to progress in season 2023.

Last year’s Premiers will be looking to make it to the final game of the season, but a roadblock in their way is their opponents in East Fremantle.

The two sides will go head to head at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday September 9.

The Lions weren’t able to continue their strong form into week one of the finals, going down by 23 points to Swan Districts.

Subiaco can take the knowledge that they are able to get on a roll, after they outscored the Swans in the second half.

A strong start will be needed, against a side that is full of confidence.

The Sharks who finished fifth were able to take down fourth-placed Claremont to advance to week two of the finals.

With both teams’ League sides still in the hunt, neither will be willing to give up throughout the contest.

It was only two weeks ago the Lions had a strong outing against East Fremantle, defeating them by 50 points at Leederville Oval in round 20.

The side exploded after half time, to blow their opponents out of the game.

Wingman Noah Ash was important with 18 touches, as was Jaxon McGowan with 25 disposals.

In a finals match, it’s important for your leaders to stand up.

It’s an occasion for midfield bull Connor Patterson.

The 21-year-old is sixth in the Reserves competition for disposals, and is second for tackles, showing his willingness to win the football.

He’ll be important for the Lions as they look to stay alive.
