Colts Season Comes to an End
Subiaco’s campaign has come to an end, following a nine-point loss to East Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday September 9.
In a close contest all game, the Lions couldn’t stop the momentum of the Sharks to start the final term, leaving them too much to do with little time left in the game.
While they gave it their all, kicking two late goals, it wasn’t enough to secure a Preliminary Final berth, with the side going down 11.11 (77) to 10.8 (68).
Midfielder Riley Wills finished off his season strongly, with 27 disposals and nine marks.
Lance Collard did the same, kicking five goals from his eight touches.
The Sharks had a better start on the day, kicking the opening two goals of the match.
Needing a spark, Collard popped up, kicking his first of the game.
The Lions had missed chances in front of goal, kicking five behinds in the term which had them trailing by one point at quarter time.
East Fremantle were able to create some separation, kicking five goals to two in the second term.
With the game on the line in the third, Malakai Champion hit the scoreboard, before Wills followed suit, bringing the margin back to single figures.
Collard and Darcy Montgomery both kicked majors late in the term, evening up the scores.
However, three straight goals from the Sharks got them back in front, which was enough to put an end to Subiaco’s season.
