Heal Calls Time On Career

Subiaco's backline will take a hit in 2024 with club stalwart Aaron Heal announcing he will hang up the boots after a distinguished WAFL career at Subiaco which saw him notch up 156 League games for the club.
Having recruited the key back from Baldivis FC after a handful of games at the Thunder, Heal proved to be a diamond in the rough, maturing into a State key back and winning four League flags with the club.
Reflecting on his time at the club, Heal said "the last ten years has been an amazing ride and I've loved every minute of being a Lion's player".
Recruited by Jarrod Schofield in 2014, Heal played 8 games in his first year but missed out on the League Grand Final side which went on to win. He put that disappointment behind him to come back bigger and better the following year to cement his spot in the side, playing in his first premiership.
"The highlight was definitely the 2018 premiership, where the team won all three grades and went through the season undefeated."
Playing in the match with old friend Ben Newton made the match even more special for Heal.
"The premierships helped forge some really strong friendships with the playing group which I think will be maintained in retirement. I'm looking forward to bringing the family to some games as a supporter next season" he said.
Through his time at Subiaco, Heal became a qualified engineer and is currently working in oil and gas.
Heal also thanked wife Amy, who helped support him through his final years of football with their two kids Thea and Newton.
Coach Beau Wardmen was glowing in his praise of Heal during the recent Outridge Medal night.
"Aaron is a favorite son among these walls, his ability to do the brilliant with a no-nonsense approach, an ability to make those around him walk taller, and a truly team first player who for over 150 games at the club has given his all through adversity and adulation. You will always be Subiaco and I wish you all the best in your endeavors moving forward."
Heal will receive admission as a Club Life Member when the group meets in 2024.
