A silver lining in the narrow loss to South Fremantle, was a career best game from Josh Robbins.

21 disposals, six marks and two goals for the Scarborough product.

“Josh was our best with a four quarter effort,” said coach Beau Wardman.

Subiaco’s hopes hit an injury hurdle early with the long awaited and emotional return of Kyron Hayden lasting just 10 minutes after he sustained a hamstring injury. Taj Schofield was also restricted by injury.

“We were back closer to our brand against South" Wardman added.

“We just need to make the most of our chances up forward.”

Jake Evitt was an exception, kicking three goals in just his second career game. Rylie Morgan returned to the seniors and was rewarded by his transition running and link up play on a wing.

‘We have a few in the seconds who continue to press for senior selection. Noah Ash, Tyler Senge and James Sullivan are all in the conversation after the state game,” Wardman added.

The league teams 7-point loss was the only downside on a great weekend for the club.

The Ressies home by 11 points, the Colts crushed South Freo by 75 and the WAFLW team proved too strong for Swan Districts.

The state game this weekend before the Lions play, Sullivan Logistics Stadium co-tenants, East Perth on May 25 in an away game.
