Women's Round 11 Recap

It was a productive Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Logistics Stadium, with the Women’s team walking away with a strong victory over Swan Districts; their first win since Round 4 this year.
“Over the past few weeks, the playing group highlighted some key areas where we needed to improve, and ultimately they came out and made an impact in these areas.” said Coach Baker Denneman.
Denneman had plenty of good to say about the squad. Aimee Schmidt shone in her first game back for the season, making an immediate impact with a running goal in the first 30 seconds of the match. She would go on to kick 2.1 for the match.
Krstel Petrevski and Beatrice Devlyn racked up 25 and 21 disposals each, being key components of Subi’s ability to rebound from defensive 50 on the day.
Olivia Wolmarans also had a well-rounded game, with 23 disposals and 8 inside 50s.
Hayley Corlett had a scare in the second quarter, limping off the ground after slotting a goal on the run. She thankfully returned to the finish the game after half time.
“We have started the majority of our games this season strongly, so it was a nice feeling to see the playing group continue this trend and put the foot down throughout the second and prior to halftime.” Coach elaborated. “Players played with confidence, and a cohesiveness that held us in good stead throughout the entire game.”
While Subiaco dominated the second quarter and held the first and third to an even contest, the fourth term did show signs of a comeback by the Swans.
“We were challenged at the beginning of the last, but through finding possession and control, were able to ensure we got the reward at the end of the day.”
Subiaco held on to win the match by 11 points.
The Rogers weren’t as successful with their match on Sunday, losing out to Swan Districts by only 10 points.
Subiaco returns to Sullivan Logistics Stadium this weekend to take on fellow tenants East Perth.
