Zone Carnival In the Goldfields
All eyes on the future of the Subiaco Football club will be focussed on the Goldfields of the WA Day long weekend.
The annual Zone Carnival will be hosted in Kalgoorlie on June 2nd and 3rd for the talented teenagers from the visiting Esperance region and Goldfields.
Years 9, 10 and Youth Girls travel from Esperance to Kalgoorlie to contest a series of carnival games. Subiaco’s Rogers Cup coach Dane Edwards also uses the opportunity to conduct a training session.
“This session is aimed at replicating a Rogers (Cup) type training run to give the girls an idea of the skills and level of effort needed at the WAFL level,” said Subiaco Talent manager Stuart Berryman.
A huge group of volunteers from the GFL and EDFA rally together each and every year to make this a wonderful weekend for the girls and boys.
‘Organising ovals, accommodation, transportation, uniforms and feeding hungry mouths is a massive task but it gets done with a minimum of fuss by the wonderful group of passionate men and women who give up their time,” Berryman added.
The weekend provides the Subiaco Football Club a chance to identify the best talent from the region for the 15’s regional carnival in July as well as development squads for the 2025 Futures and Rogers teams.

“We (Subiaco FC) get to see all the best 14 to 16 year olds in the district and make sure we choose and assist the talented crop to take part in the pathway on the road to playing senior footy for the Lions,” Berryman said.
