Clark Stoked to Crack 100 Game Milestone
Greg Clark proudly remembers the day he played his fifth league game for Subiaco, earning him the coveted club jacket, presented to all players who tick off the handful of games mark.
“I was stoked,” said the Lions skipper, who reached the 100 game milestone against East Perth last weekend.
“To have my name in the locker room amongst legends of the footy club is really special,” said captain Clark.
“I say this over and over again. This club and the playing groups over the years have helped shape me, who I am today. I will always keep trying to give back what I can to my teammates and the club and hopefully I can leave a positive impact,” he said
Coach Beau Wardman full of praise for the first-year skipper.
“Greg is a man of high character and shown significant personal growth and has a team first mentality,” Wardman said.
“He (Clark) is a winner and that trait comes through in the gym, on the training track and his game day encouragement of his peers,” the coach added.
While it has not been a hugely successful 2024 season for the Lions so fare, Clark believes the group continues to build and grow in confidence and the wins will follow.
“We’re on a journey at present. We have been in a winning position in every game over the past few weeks and if we all continue to drive our standards, the wins will come,” Clark said.
27 year-old Clark, recently played for WA against South Australia, returning to WAFL ranks after a stint with the West Coast Eagles.
Since being back in the Lion’s Den the star has been playing as a running half back with stints in the midfield.
“Being around this young group is very exciting and watching them grow in confidence every week, makes leading this group really exciting,” Clark said.
Subiaco host a much-improved Swan Districts at Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Saturday with the opening bounce at 2.30pm.
