NAIDOC Round Jumper Launch

Friday, July 5, 2024 - 11:56 AM

Subiaco has launched their 2024 Naidoc Round jumper to be worn for all matches against East Perth for Saturday 6 July fixtures and is hoping the jumper will provide additional inspiration to the League side for their must win clash.

The jumper was designed by Danielle Champion who is the mother of Goldfield's product Malakai Champion.  Malakai has a bright future in football and was chosen to represent WA in the recent State 18's Championships, but his mother seems to be equally talented creating a unique and inspiring jumper.

"The symbolism in the jumper came through a number of yarning sessions with the Club's Indigenous playing group and the strong theme was around Family and Community, which is represented by the circles in the middle of the jumper" she said.

The design at the bottom of the Jumper represents each player's home and the lines represent their journey to the Club. Spotted around the jumper are a number of individual player symbols and a number of stars representing all the hard work each individual put into playing at the club.  "They are all stars" said Champion.

Whislt being injured, former North Melboune player Kieran Hayden has stepped up, providing some leadership to the indigenous players and encourage them to be proud and excited when they wear the jumper this week and to play with plenty of flare.

The week will also be one to remember for Keeshawn Cook who makes his league debut after some strong form in the reserves all season.  Originally from Kelmscott, Cook played some colts football at Perth Demons and was recruited to the Club from Trinity Aquinus in the Perth Football League.

2024 Naidoc activities are proudly supported by Goldfield's business West Auz Mining.
