Life Members Voted In
The Subiaco Football Club members voted in three new Life Members at Wednesday's Annual General Meeting with an administrator, a player and a coach joining this illustrious group.
Recently retired Full Forward Ben Sokol finished his Subi career on 150 League games which is automatic qualification.
After a disappointing 2015 season at South Fremantle which only netted two league games and a solitary goal, Subiaco secured 'Soks' to relocate his football endeavours to Subi.
Coach Beau Wardman was full of praise for the spearhead saying "Ben is a high achiever, not through luck, from discipline and hard work. He is his hardest marker and never satisfied. Ben has great ability to stand up under pressure, a Simpson Medallist, his performances on the biggest stages – finals, Grand Finals, and State Games sets him apart from his peers."
His list of achievements is highlighted by 3x League Premierships, 2 time Bernie Naylor Medallist, 5x Club Leading Goal Kicker awards and a Simpson Medal.
Popular and long serving assistant coach Nigel Hamilton was the second Life Member voted in and commenced his journey at Subi in 2013 in preperation for the 2014 season alongside Jarrad Schofield. He has amased 208 League Matches and coached 19 Finals and 7 League Grand Finals.
His roles at the Club have included Line Coach, Chairmen of Selectors, Reserves Coach, Presenter and he has formed great relationships with the players along the journey.
The final Life Membership for the evening was awarded to current CEO Peter Capes. Capsie has been at the helm since 2010 and in his time
guided the Club through its most successful era.Some of Peter's career highlights at Subiaco include 5 League Premierships, 3 Reserves and 2 Colts flags; Successful renegotiation of the Subiaco Oval Lease in 2011 helping secure the Club's financial future; helping the club transition from Subiaco Oval to our Leederville Oval base at the end of 2018 and guiding the club through the Covid pandemic.
"Peter has been a great appointment for the head role and has done a fantastic job leading us through thick and thin" said former President Neil Randall. "He will be a welcomed addition into the Life Membership of our great club".
