Firstly, how is pre-season treating you so far?

It’s been great. The club has been so welcoming, from the boys out on the track to the coaches and support staff. The atmosphere around the club is real positive and super passionate about wanting to be great people as well as great footballers.

What draws you to Subiaco? Why play for the Lions?

Subiaco has been a powerhouse of the competition for many years and has a strong brand of football, with a rich history of great footballers and passionate supporters. Having the opportunity to play for Subiaco with the likes of Greg Clark and Stef Giro is what draws me to this club.

You and fellow Subi-newbie Jack Cooley were both at East Perth from 2021 to 2022. Is there already a camaraderie between you two?

Myself and Cooley had to train a lot together, so although we didn’t have the opportunity to play side by side too much, his stoppage work, football smarts and skills are exceptional and we have a really strong ruck mid connection. Off the field, we get along quite well and I was quite pleased to find out we were both signing for Subi this season.

What are your personal goals for this season?

My goals this season are to build strong connections with my teammates on and off the field, to play the role needed for team success and to make my teammates better.

Have you had a look at this year's fixture yet? Are there any specific games you're looking forward to?

I like to take the season one week at a time, but seeing the opening round against East Perth certainly is an exciting game to start off with. I know it will be a great contest and I am looking forward to go head-to-head against them.

And lastly, a bit of a fun one: since East Perth and Subi are both headquartered at Sullivan Logistics Stadium, have there been any moments yet where your autopilot has led you into the wrong rooms?

I haven’t walked into the wrong rooms, but I have parked down the other end when we have had team meetings. A few of the boys had a laugh about that.

A word from Men’s Senior Coach Beau Wardman.

The new recruits haven't missed a trick throughout pre-season. They have all come to our club with a great attitude and bought into our culture which has been pleasing to see. Prior to their recruitment, I knew each of them had a drive for success and understood how our program would make them better players and people. The boys have increased the professionalism and preparation across the board which has been driven by our leaders and a change in dynamic over the summer months.

Jedd has been great with our group of rucks. He is sharing knowledge and competing with them which has raised the floor for Jacob Wagenknecht, Hamish Duff and Finley Henderson. He's working closely with the mids to build synergy and his presence will allow Kody Eaton to play in a different role in 2025.
