Subiaco Talent Carnival Wrap

Subiaco’s development teams wrapped up their 2017 WAFL Talent Carnival campaigns on Saturday against South Fremantle.
 
In a highly successful carnival for the Subiaco Football Club, all five of their development teams won at least two of their four matches. Impressively the two A teams and the Year 10s side each won three games.
 

Schofield Committed to Subiaco for 2018

The Subiaco Football Club is delighted to announce that league coach Jarrad Schofield will honour the final year of his current contract and coach Subiaco in 2018.

Schofield had fielded extensive interest from a number of AFL clubs about coaching opportunities in 2018, however has now re-committed to the final year of his current agreement with Subiaco.

Subiaco Records Perfect Five for Five in WAFL Talent Carnival against Perth

Subiaco made it a perfect five wins from five games in Day 3 of the WAFL Talent Carnival at Leederville Oval yesterday.
 
After winning four games on Day 1 of the Carnival against East Perth and two games on Day 2 against West Perth, things came together for the Subiaco sides on Day 3 against Perth, as every side recorded a convincing win.

Daniel Leach claims 2017 Blakemore Medal

Daniel Leach is the 2017 Blakemore Medal Winner for the fairest and best in the WAFL Reserves Competition for the Subiaco Football Club.
 
Leach was a deserving winner of the Blakemore Medal in his first season as the Subiaco Football Club polling 506 votes to win comfortably from Jacob Miller and Ben Reid.
 

Kitchin wins 2017 Outridge Medal

Leigh Kitchin has taken out the 2017 Outridge Medal awarded to the best and fairest player at the Subiaco Football Club.
 
Kitchin was a comfortable winner in the end finishing on 572 votes with Lachlan Delahunty winning the Don Carter Memorial Trophy in second place on 526 votes and Liam Ryan the Ted Doherty Memorial Trophy in third place on 521 votes.

2017 Blakemore Medal Preview

The Subiaco D-League will cap off their remarkable 2017 season, when their best & fairest player is crowned at the Outridge Medal on Wednesday September 28, at the Subiaco Sports Bar.
 
Despite falling as low as seventh position throughout the season, the Lions never gave up and managed to fire themselves into the Grand Final, where they defeated South Fremantle to the tune of 19 points.

Subiaco's gala event of the year, the 2017 Outridge Medal will be held tonight at the Subi Sports Bar with a number of players to be recognised for their outstanding contributions across 2017.
 
The Lions had a magnificent season, only dropping one game during the home-and-away season as they clinched their third consecutive minor premiership.
 

Subiaco Fall in Final Grand Final at Subiaco Oval

Subiaco fell to a crushing 16 point loss in the 2017 WAFL Grand Final on Sunday in the farewell to Subiaco Oval.
 
Subiaco was left to rue inaccurate goal kicking and a lack of efficiency when entering their forward half, as they led the majority of statistical categories, but this forward conversion was the one thing missing from a gallant performance.

D-League win 2017 WAFL Reserves Premiership

The Subiaco D-League secured the 2017 WAFL Reserves Premiership, after they defeated South Fremantle by 19 points at Domain Stadium on Sunday.
 
It is the Lions’ 15th overall Reserves’ premiership, and their first since 2007.
 
Dylan Clarke took home the Merv McIntosh Medal, after he accumulated 23 possessions and booted five goals in a dazzling performance.
 
He was well supported by James Garcia (24 possessions and six tackles), Bailey Matera (20 possessions and a goal), and Greg Clark (19 possessions and 16 tackles).
 
Up forward Nick Menegola, and Braden Fimmano kicked two goals apiece, while Matera, Adam Creeper, Raymond Daniels and Brayden Ainsworth each kicked one.

PREVIEW - Grand Final (2017) V Peel

It has all come down to this, a showdown between Subiaco and Peel Thunder for the 2017 WAFL Premiership, in the final Grand Final to be held at Subiaco Oval.
 
Both teams have had magnificent seasons, and will meet again for the second consecutive grand final, after Peel defeated Subiaco by 23 points in last year’s finale.
 
The Lions finished the 2017 season as the minor premiers after only dropping one game throughout the home-and-away season. That loss occurred in round one to South Fremantle, before the Lions went on to a 19-win streak. Their finals series did not start ideally - they lost their Semi-Final against the Thunder by 24 points, and did not start well against South Fremantle in the Preliminary Final, trailing at quarter time. But like all good teams, the Lions came out firing, beating the Bulldogs by 32 points to take momentum into the Grand Final.
