Zac Clarke Commits to Subiaco for 2018

Thursday, December 21, 2017 - 1:05 AM

Subiaco has received a Christmas boost just ahead of the team’s two week Christmas break with Zac Clarke confirmed to play for Subiaco in 2018.
One of the most sought after signatures in the WAFL off-season, Clarke is set to be a welcome addition to the Subiaco side filling a need primarily in the ruck but also able to contribute on the scoreboard up forward.
Clarke was considered very unlucky to be delisted by Fremantle at the end of the 2017 season with the Dockers delisting Clarke after 101 games including playing in the Dockers sole 2013 Grand Final appearance.
Clarke played his last game for Fremantle late in the 2016 season while his last official game played was the 2016 WAFL Grand Final where he was a key part of Peel’s win over Subiaco, collecting 56 hitouts in the Grand Final.

Wednesday, December 20, 2017 - 6:30 PM

Subiaco’s 2018 fixture has been released with the WAFL confirming the opponents and rounds for the upcoming season.

The shortened fixture will see all teams play 18 games split across 21 games with three byes. The season will start on Easter weekend, the last weekend in March and conclude on the last weekend in August. Finals will run throughout September with the WAFL Grand Final set to be held on the weekend of September 22 and 23.
Subiaco’s 2018 season will start with its annual marquee Good Friday fixture as the Lions battle with East Perth in round one of the WAFL season. With former Lions Liam Ryan and Brayden Ainsworth drafted to West Coast, this could be a case of taking on two familiar foes, likely adding a bit more spice to this already blockbuster match. Subiaco emphatically defeated East Perth in last year’s Good Friday match and the co-tenant rivals will be looking to making amends in 2018.

Stuart Page will coach our Lions Pride squad, a program which will be increased in 2018. Frank Stockley (talls), Matt De Barro, Nicholas Visser and Jackson O’Malley (development) also join our coaching group in 2018 as we look to improve our player development skill focus.
