Meet Rob Nylander
Rob Nylander has been part of the Subiaco family since 1983 — but his connection to the club started long before that. Growing up in Subiaco, Rob was introduced to the Lions by his father, a dedicated member who passed down a love for the maroon and gold after moving from Victoria.
Rob’s involvement began at the Subi Sports Festival on Subiaco Oval. From there, he became a member, later a club sponsor through Supreme Printers, and eventually took on the role of Vice President of The Golds, encouraged by the late Lion Basil Fuller. Today, Rob leads the Tuesday Response Group (TRG), a dedicated team of members who meet every week to help maintain our facilities and keep our community thriving.
Being part of the TRG allows Rob to know the club inside and out — from chatting with the players to getting to know the office staff. It’s the best way to stay connected and contribute.
Favourite Subi Memory
Two moments in maroon and gold stand out for Rob. The 1973 Grand Final first lit the spark — a defining experience that made him a Lion for life. Decades later, the 2018 season provided another highlight when Subiaco swept the competition and claimed premiership glory across all grades.
Fun Fact
Rob’s devotion to the club runs deep — and it’s proudly on display in The Shrine, his personal lion den. Over the years, he’s collected a treasure trove of club memorabilia that any fan would envy. Guests at Rob’s home are always treated to a tour of his favourite place to relax, watch sport, and share some joy.

Thank you, Rob, for being such a valued part of the Subiaco family. Your passion and loyalty are what make this club roar!
