Subiaco Football Club Regional Tour

Subiaco Football Club’s Regional Tour has been a huge success, bringing football talent, coaching expertise, and community engagement to the region zone of Goldfields and Esperance. The tour focused on working with talent pathway players, helping upskilling local football coaches, and promoting & developing women’s football, all while strengthening Subiaco FC’s connection with local zone.

The tour began with a visit to Leonora, where Subiaco Football Club hosted a football clinic for aspiring players. Local kids were given the opportunity to learn from Subiaco’s experienced coaches, helping them develop their football skills while having fun. The town aspires to start an AFL 9s and Auskick programs, with the aim of this session to get kids excited to attended get down to some sessions.

Next, the Subiaco team travelled to Kalgoorlie, where the club’s Subiaco Talent coaches ran an informative coach education session designed to support local coaches in developing their skills and helping to educate the coaches looking after the next generation of GFL and Subiaco FC players.

In addition, the coaches hosted training sessions for the Lions Pride Program, helping to develop the high performance group and bring some new drills to the program. Subiaco Head Women’s Coach, Baker Denneman, also led a women’s training session, to help in the developmented of the top end talent of Womens football in the GFL, which is at a high standard, with one player even being invited to play with Subiaco FC on the weekend.

Subiaco FC also made a stop at O’Connor Primary school and Kalgoolie-Boulder Community High School with their footy program, where the coaches ran football sessions that were not only fun but educational, promoting football fundamental skills and encouraging participation across a range of age groups.

Last stop on the Regional Tour was Esperance, where Talent Manager Stu Berryman and Women’s Coach Baker ran another coach education. There was a great turnout of coaches, hopefully bringing some new knowledge and drills down to their local trainings.

Stu and Baker also ran training sessions for the boys and women’s talent programs, these sessions were specifically designed for both the most talented players in Esperance to get some exposure to the kind of drills and standard that are run at Subiaco FCs Perth based programs.

The success of this tour wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and hard work of Eshe Christie, Subiaco’s regional specialist, who played a crucial role in helping to organize and coordinate all of the events across these regional areas. Eshe’s efforts ensured that each location received the attention it deserved, making the entire experience a memorable one for all involved. Her ongoing support for football in the region is appreciated and key to a strong relationship between the club and zone

The Subiaco Football Club Regional Tour proved successful in helping with the development of coaches, players and aspiring athletes in the regional zones of Northern Goldfields and Esperance. The relationship the club has with its regional zone stakeholders is important for the success of the football club and one the Subiaco FC look to strengthen in the future. Talent Manager, Stu Berryman says “It’s great to get out to Kalgoorlie and Esperance and see not only the passion for football but also the talented players and committed volunteers. We are lucky to have parents and players keen to make the travel to Perth, so we feel like its only fair to bring our expert staff out to give back to the football community.”
