In Memory of Pat Cornford
Author: Admin Subiaco FC
The Subiaco Football Club was sad to hear of the passing of long time member and supporter Pat Cornford in late July, at 90 years of age.
The Cornford family have been part of the fabric of this club for close to 70 years. Pat’s husband Ray played 28 games for Subiaco between 1953 and 1955, debuting against Claremont in August 1953 and going on to become a Club Life Member. It was a connection to Subiaco that would shape the rest of both their lives.
Pat was a fixture at the club for decades, rarely missing a home game. She was known and loved across the club, always ready to lend a hand, offer a word of encouragement, or simply be there in the stands. For Pat, Subiaco wasn’t just a football club, it was her second family, and she treated everyone in it that way. Her last game was Round 15 against West Perth on 18 July.
Pat will be dearly missed in the Members Grandstand and around the club she gave so much of herself to, and where she will always be remembered as one of our own.
Pat’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday 25 August at 2:00pm at Seasons Funerals Balcatta Chapel, 401 Wanneroo Road, Balcatta. A wake will follow at Subiaco Football Club from approximately 4:00pm, where Pat’s many friends at the club are welcome to gather and share their memories of her.
Our thoughts are with the Cornford family at this time.
