As Subiaco heads into its first WAFLW Finals series since 2021, we’ve prepared a who’s who of some of the stars of the squad. Here’s just a few of the names to look out for as the Lionesses prepare to fight for the 2025 Premiership.
#9 Dahna Lee

Age: 23
Height: 176cm
Role: Back
Playing History: Subiaco (2021-), Subiaco (Rogers Cup) (2019)
Accolades: Subiaco WAFLW Coach’s Award (2024)
Do you have any pre-game rituals? How do you best like to prepare for a game?
I don’t have any pre-game rituals. I just like to take it easy before a game, get some touch in and watch a bit of the game that’s on beforehand.
What are your favourite and least favourite training drills?
My favourite drills are anything that is contest-focused or game-like. My least favourite is conditioning.
What’s the best ground to play at?
Obviously Sullivan Logistics Stadium… Before it gets rained on!
What’s been your absolute favourite game to play in so far this year?
My favourite game this year would be Round 11, the Friday night game against the Sharks. It’s always good fun playing a night game, and it was a really competitive, hard fought game that we came away with a good win from!
#32 Ruby Hobbs

Age: 18
Height: 161cm
Role: Centre
Playing History: Subiaco (2025-), Subiaco (Rogers Cup) (2023-2024), Carine JFC (Metro North)
Accolades: Subiaco Rogers Cup Runner-Up Best & Fairest (2024)
Do you have any pre-game rituals? How do you best like to prepare for a game?
I aim for 10 hours of sleep and have a big breakfast, usually bacon and eggs, on the day of the game. I also make sure to drink peppermint tea before the game.
What are your favourite and least favourite training drills?
My favourites are the full ground ball movement drills.
My least favourite, though, are “Subi Swarms”. We split into four teams and stand in a small square. When your team gets called, you are attacking and have to handball it to the other side of the grid, then you automatically roll over into defence and have to defend against the other team, and you just keep repeating through it like that.
…It actually doesn’t sound that bad now that I have said it out loud.
What’s the best ground to play at?
Sullivan Logistics Stadium!
What’s been your absolute favourite game to play in so far this year?
Round 11, the night game against East Fremantle.
#1 Tess Lyons

Age: 28
Height: 184cm
Role: Ruck, Captain (2024-)
Playing History: Subiaco (2022-), West Coast Eagles (AFLW) (2024), University (PFL) (2018-2021)
Accolades: WAFLW State Squad (2025), WAFLW All-Stars Squad (2022)
Do you have any pre-game rituals? How do you best like to prepare for a game?
My pre-game ritual is probably a common one; having pasta the night before and eggs on toast on the morning of the game!
In terms of preparing for the game, I know my teammates find it a bit chaotic, but I like to arrive at the latest time possible and do a very short sharp warm-up with no extra kicking or skills beforehand.
What are your favourite and least favourite training drills?
My favourite drills are any scenario-based training and full ground ball movement drills.
I absolutely hate “Subiaco Swarm”.
What’s the best ground to play at?
I have to say Sullivan Logistics Stadium; it’s our ground!
What’s been your absolute favourite game to play in so far this year?
I have a few favourites, but if I have to choose one it’s got to be Round 1 vs. West Perth. Seeing all the hard work we put in over pre-season take shape, and seeing the connection between our group off-field translate on-field was pretty special. Plus, it’s always good to get the first win of the season on the board.
#20 Hali Epis

Age: 21
Height: 176cm
Role: Back, Leadership Group (2025-)
Playing History: Subiaco (2023-), Kalgoorlie City (Goldfields FL) (2021-2023)
Accolades: Goldfields Representative Side (2021/2022)
Do you have any pre-game rituals? How do you best like to prepare for a game?
The only pre-game ritual I have is putting a fresh tan on and having a bit of a boogie in the change rooms before we warm up.
I like to prepare for the games by not really thinking too much about it and just kinda doing whatever I feel I need at the time.
What are your favourite and least favourite training drills?
My favourite training drills to do are any that are full ground movements and my least favourite is what Coach Baker likes to call “Shape and Reshape”.
What’s the best ground to play at?
This might be controversial because of how torn up it’s gotten during the season, but I think Sullivan Logistics Stadium is the best ground to play at just because it’s our home.
What’s been your absolute favourite game to play in so far this year?
My favourite game to play in this season was Round 11 when we versed East Fremantle because it was my first night game. I loved having all the big lights and music going!
#27 Layla Quinn-Schofield

Age: 18
Height: 174cm
Role: Forward
Playing History: Subiaco (since 2024), Kingsley JFC (Metro North)
Accolades: WA State Squad [AFLW U18 National Championships] (2024-2025)
Do you have any pre-game rituals? How do you best like to prepare for a game?
I’m a massive country music fan, so I always listen to country music when travelling to games. I also always put my left sock and left boot on first.
To prepare for game day I always go for a walk, either the day before or the day of the game.
What are your favourite and least favourite training drills?
My favourite drills are probably “Subi Swarm” or “Shape and Reshape”. I don’t really have a least favourite but if I had to pick it would be the kick grid.
What’s the best ground to play at?
Not to be biased but it’s definitely Sullivan Logistics Stadium.
What’s been your absolute favourite game to play in so far this year?
Every game this year has been so fun to be a part of, but if I had to choose one it would be Round 1 against West Perth. Just seeing how much we improved from last year and the excitement around the first game of the season; it was so amazing to be a part of!
See them all in action in the 2nd Semi Final, when the Lions take on Claremont once again at Revo Fitness Stadium on Sunday, August 10 at 12:30 PM.
