A Message from the President – Thank You for 2026

Dear Members and Supporters,

Following valiant efforts from both our Colts and Rogers Cup teams, who unfortunately bowed out of their respective finals campaigns, our 2026 season has officially come to a close.

It always seems that just as quickly as a season begins, suddenly we find ourselves at the end of it. While there will always be moments we wish had gone differently, as I reflect on 2026, I feel an enormous sense of pride in the progress we have made as a football club – both on and off the field.

From a Senior Men’s perspective, I’m sure you would all agree that a 10-win season represented significant progress. Importantly, that progress wasn’t limited to the win-loss column. We saw real development in the way our players went about their football, the style and identity we are building, and the belief within the group.

There is still plenty of work ahead of us, but we are confident that strong foundations have been laid and that this group is heading in the right direction. We are already excited about what 2027 can bring.

Our Women’s program may not have achieved the on-field success we were hoping for this season, but there were some terrific glimpses of what this group is capable of. At their best, they played some outstanding football and showed that they can be one of the most dangerous teams in the competition.

We also know the character of this group. As we have seen in years gone by, they are resilient, passionate and incredibly proud to represent Subiaco. I have no doubt they will use the experiences of this season to come back even stronger in 2027.

Across our Colts and Rogers Cup programs, there was also plenty to be proud of. Both teams earned the opportunity to play finals football and fought hard right to the end. Beyond the results, it is incredibly encouraging to see the talent coming through our pathways and the next generation of Subiaco footballers continuing to develop.

A football club, of course, is about far more than what happens on the field each weekend.

It takes an enormous number of people giving their time, energy and expertise to make a season possible. On behalf of the Board, I would like to sincerely thank all of our coaches, football department staff, support staff, volunteers, sponsors and everyone else who has contributed to our club throughout 2026. Much of what you do happens behind the scenes, but it certainly does not go unnoticed.

Finally, I want to personally thank our members, supporters and the wider Subiaco family, wherever you may be.

Your support means an enormous amount to our club. You continue to show up, you continue to care, and you remain as passionate about Subiaco as ever. Whether you are at the ground every week, following from interstate or overseas, or simply maintaining a lifelong connection with the Lions, you are an important part of what makes this club special.

Thank you for your support not only throughout 2026, but year after year. There is plenty for us to be proud of, plenty still to accomplish, and plenty to look forward to.

Enjoy the off-season, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2027.
