The Subiaco Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Jarrad Schofield as its next Senior Coach.
Schofield is no stranger to Subiaco, having built a strong relationship with the club over many years as both a player and coach. He was a key part of the Lions’ playing group in the mid2000s, playing in three premierships, before steering the club to three WAFL premierships as Senior Coach between 2013 and 2018. His return comes after seven years developing his coaching experience within the AFL system at Port Adelaide and the West Coast Eagles as Senior Assistant.
This appointment follows the recent announcement of Kellie Properjohn as Subiaco’s new Chief Executive Officer. Properjohn said the club is entering a new and exciting era.
“Jarrad and I have a strong relationship, sharing in club success at Subiaco. We are now ready to embrace this opportunity to come together again and work to build the blueprint of future success.”
“Jarrad understands the culture of Subiaco and the importance of maintaining our proud history, but equally, he is focused on what comes next. His coaching philosophy embraces all areas of our football program, men’s, women’s, and our talent pathways. With Jarrad on board, I’m excited about the future we are building together, for our players, our members, our staff, and the broader Subiaco community.”
Schofield said he was looking forward to rejoining the Lions and building on the club’s strong foundations.
“Subiaco has always been close to my heart. The club has achieved great success, but our responsibility now is to look ahead. That means ensuring all our programs are connected and that young talent can see a pathway to senior football. My focus will be on creating an environment where players, coaches and staff can thrive together.”
Subiaco President Russell Smith said Schofield’s appointment provides continuity, stability and an exciting platform for the club’s future.“Culture sits at the heart of everything we do at Subiaco. Our vision for the club is to be a place where people feel welcomed, where they belong, and supported to achieve their best. Jarrad is committed to helping Subiaco remain competitive on the field and inclusive and sustainable off it.
“The Club would also like to acknowledge Nigel Hamilton, who stepped into the senior coaching role towards the end of the 2025 season. His professionalism and commitment helped guide our men’s team through a period of transition, and we are pleased he will remain with us as a Senior Assistant under Jarrad, providing invaluable experience and continuity as we move forward.”
Together, Schofield and Properjohn represent a new chapter of leadership at the club, reinforcing a commitment to culture, stability, growth, and the ongoing development of the Subiaco community.
The Subiaco Football Club looks forward to the 2026 season with renewed energy and optimism under this refreshed leadership team.
