Mary’s Breaking New Ground

Despite being away from the Club since 2021, Mary Roseingrave still remembers her three years at the Club as a player fondly and a big part of her wishes she could still be playing for the Club’s female side.

Mary joined the Club’s Women’s program in 2018 and was a natural given her strong background in Gaelic football which ingrained in her a combination of skill and toughness.  In 2020 she had a hiatus from the Lions to captain the State Gaelic Team and played her final season with us in 2021.

A qualified lawyer, since leaving the Lions, Mary has had two children with her partner James Kelleher and started a family business with James and his brother Edward called Crushing Services Australia.

Mary has become the first Lion’s female past player to sponsor the Club with Crushing Services Australia taking a prominent signage position behind the Subi end goals at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.

“At the start of 2023, James and I were looking to support a community group through our business, and we thought, why not sponsor Subiaco given my history and affinity with the Club?”

“We can’t get to many games given our young family and growing business in Forrestdale, but from time to time we watch a game on tv and get a kick out of seeing our sign behind the goals – James also likes having the sign there for the St Pat’s Day Festival so we hope that comes back next year” she joked.

“We’re looking forward to coming to support the female team as they head towards the finals.”

Club Commercial Manager Joe Georgiades paid Crushing Services Australia a visit this week and presented them with a number 53 Subiaco jumper (Mary’s old number) to hang on their premises wall and said, “We love to see past players getting involved with the Club, so it’s great that Mary, James and Edward have chosen to support us and it’s exciting to see their family business grow.”
